How to prepare your London flat for an end-of-tenancy clean

A little preparation helps the team spend the visit on the cleaning you have agreed. Use this checklist to coordinate packing, access and the details that matter at handover.

Agree the checklist before the visit

Start with the rooms, appliances and surfaces you want cleaned. Share any relevant handover checklist so the team can confirm the work it can cover. Mention particular marks, areas that have been difficult to clean and any delicate finishes.

End-of-tenancy cleaning has a minimum online estimate of £145. The property’s size, condition and selected extras affect the final quote. Cleaning does not guarantee a deposit outcome; the agreed scope should be clear before the visit.

Plan the clean around your belongings

Where practical, schedule the clean after packing and removal of your belongings. Empty surfaces and clear floors make it easier to reach the areas on your checklist.

  • Remove food, personal items and loose belongings from areas to be cleaned.
  • Empty cupboards if you want their interiors included in the agreed work.
  • Keep keys, documents and valuables with you.
  • Tell the team which furniture is staying and what cannot be moved.

If you are also arranging house moving, share the planned removal and cleaning times. Availability for both services needs to be confirmed.

Confirm appliances and carpet treatment

Inside ovens, inside fridges and interior windows are optional extras in the quote builder. List the appliances and areas you want included so there is no uncertainty on the day.

For a fridge or freezer, arrange food removal and discuss any preparation in advance. Follow the appliance manufacturer’s instructions if it needs defrosting; allow enough time before the appointment.

Vacuuming does not include specialist carpet treatment. If you need carpet cleaning, enquire separately with the room sizes, material if known, and areas needing attention.

Make access straightforward

Send the full postcode, flat number and agreed entry arrangements. For London flats, these details are especially useful:

  • The floor level, stairs and whether a lift is available.
  • Concierge or building access arrangements.
  • Parking or loading restrictions to discuss before the visit.
  • Whether water and electricity will be available.
  • Who can answer questions while the team is on site.

Share access codes or other sensitive entry details directly with the team once arrangements are agreed. Any applicable parking or congestion costs are confirmed before booking.

Your final preparation check

Before the appointment, check that the team has your latest priorities and that access arrangements still work. Keep the agreed cleaning checklist available for reference.

Leave enough time between the cleaning visit and your handover to review the agreed areas and raise any questions. If the move date or property condition changes, contact Brightly Clean so the plan can be reviewed.

We cover London Zones 1–5. Coverage, the final scope and the appointment are confirmed individually.
